Lalita uses a wheelchair to move around, and lives in a rural village in Kavre district. She highlights how inaccessible environment and climate-induced disasters not only isolate her but also keep her away from family during the festival time.
“In the hills, roads are being constructed in an unplanned way, leading to landslides and degradation during the rainy season. I believe that contributed to the damage. Unauthorized sand and stone mining by crusher factories also played a part. So, many human-induced causes have contributed to this situation.”
“I usually visit my village during festival time, but I couldn’t meet my family this time. There were no vehicles available. Many people walked, but I couldn’t do that. I don’t have complaints because I have to consider my situation. This was the first time in 17 to 18 years that I stayed alone during the festival.”
